What makes your model different than using on-line chat to do therapy?
Our team provides comprehensive, multi-disciplinary services in order to support continuity of care. We have put together a growing library of over 1,000 resources and evidenced-based programs to support engaging and quality services. These activities can be seen and interacted with by you and your student. We work hard to support our team with ongoing continuing education in order to make sure that we are at the forefront of this exciting way to help families around the world.

How are you different than other online therapy providers?
We know that we are only as good as our dedicated team of special education professionals. It is our combination of passion, compassion and experience that has always set us apart from our competitors. Our team embraces a passion to always do what is educationally "right" for each student, while showing compassion for our students and their struggles. Combine this with our well-established experience in the “science” of therapy and we believe you will find us uniquely qualified to handle all your online therapy needs. WebWise Therapy Services values each member of our team. We work hard to support our team with continuing education in order to make sure that we are at the forefront of this exciting path of hope and progress. Ongoing support and professional development has created a culture of lifelong learning that therapists and teachers thrive in. What matters most is building a team of therapists and teachers and investing in them.

What are the different employment opportunities with WebWise?

We are actively seeking committed special education teachers, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, assistive technology specialists, and school counselors licensed across the country.

What is your hiring process?
Therapists and teachers go through an extensive hiring process to ensure that they are a good fit for WebWise Therapy Services. This helps us to learn about your background and about your clinical reasoning skills. Click here for more information and to submit a resume.

If I’m hired, what is the process for getting started?
You will show your availability using our straightforward scheduling program. Our lead therapist will match students with you based on your strengths, schedule, and the languages you speak. The family or school will go through a set up appointment with our team to make sure that the technology is working. You will complete the final steps of scheduling and review the student’s information. During this stage, you will talk with the parents and teachers to learn more about their concerns and the child’s preferences and passions. You will complete your treatment planning and log in to your first session at the scheduled time.

What do you pay?
We recognize that the benefits of flexible scheduling and working from home are immeasurable. The compensation varies by state and whether you are interested in full-time or part-time employment. We pay a competitive rate and take into consideration your level of experience. Please call for more information on needs in your state and the range for your area. Click here for more information and to submit a resume.

How does billing work?
Our billing software is built into our scheduling program in order to make this process as easy as possible. Our billing team takes care of everything from there.

Do therapists complete evaluations online?
You will determine students’ progress on functional abilities and targeted goals. We do not expect you to complete formal, standardized assessments online because we recognize that comprehensive and valid findings are integral to treatment planning and student success. We can work with the on-the-ground team to meet the needs of each student. Additionally, we strive to learn about each school’s evaluation process and in order to determine how we can help with the process.

Can more than 2 people be working on a session? (I.e. Co-treating with a SLP and an OT with the client, all in different locations)
Yes. We are able to truly provide a multi-disciplinary approach in a creative, exciting way! For private pay families, this is guided by the individual needs of each student. For school-based students, we make sure to follow the IEP.

Can group therapy be done?
Yes. We are able to match students with similar or complimentary needs as would be beneficial and as IEPs indicate.

What does research say about the efficacy of telepractice?
There are over 50 research studies to date on the use of telepractice to deliver therapy and educational support services, with that number growing. This innovative field has gotten a lot of attention from the research community because the potential to help more families is so great. Online therapy services started over 9 years ago. Since then, research studies have shown progress on speech goals that are at least equal to in-person therapy. Also, case studies by special education professionals across the country have shown progress on goals in the areas related to occupational therapy. In the world of special education, many research studies support the use of computer-assisted instruction, making online delivery of specialized academic instruction a crucial component of preparing students for the future.

Are there certain clients that are not appropriate for telepractice?
Our primary goal is to set our students up for success, which means empowering them to grow and learn, both in session and on their own. We take each individual student’s abilities and needs into account when determining if online therapy is appropriate.
Some students with the following challenges are often not good candidates for online direct therapy: severely impacted attention span (needing redirection every minute or less), significantly impacted cognitive skills, and severe physical challenges with motor abilities limiting access to a computer and necessitating hands-on therapy. There are also some students with the above challenges that have therapy needs that are more focused on consulting and training families on how to help their child. Our special education professionals can train a team and support progress on educational and therapeutic goals with these students by providing school and home programs.

What is the process if I decide that online therapy is not appropriate for a family?
We want you to let your lead therapist know if online therapy is not a good option for a family. Your support team will determine if there are any different approaches that may help. The bottom line is that we want each student to get the help that they need and we will help the school and family find the best solution.

Does online therapy comply with industry requirements?
Yes, ASHA was one of the first governing agencies to affirm the use of online therapy services to provide therapy. Since then, AOTA and APTA have also recognized the use of the online delivery model. Special Education students are guaranteed, under IDEA, the right to equal access to education. Online instruction complies with industry requirements and helps us help more families.
